The Widow Jane Rye Mash Oak and Apple Wood Aged was distilled from a rye mash and then aged in barrels previously used for their 10 Year Old Bourbon, but with some drilled apple wood staves added. There’s still that classic cockle-warming rye character, all rich caramel and fiery black pepper, but there’s also apple blossom, apple wood smoke, baked apple and orchard grass layered over the top. Not to mention orange peel, tropical fruit, jam and baking spices. Although wonderful to drink neat, we can’t wait to have a play with it in cocktails like a Kentucky Mac, Apple Manhattan and The Apple One.
